It's ACTIVE WEEK in Scoil San Nioclás!
(Monday 15th- Friday 19th June)
This year we are celebrating an Active Week with a difference. We can't all be together so we have designed some active tasks and activities that you can try at home, by yourself or with your family.
Below you will see some active suggestions, you will find lots more on your class page.
Aim to be active for at least 60 minutes everyday.
Crinniú na nÓg - Ireland’s national day of free creative activities for children and young people under the age of 18 takes place on Saturday 13th June. Cruinniú na nÓg 2020 is a collaboration between the Creative Ireland Programme, local authorities and RTÉ.
300 events will be happening in the run up to and on the day itself. These will feature on https://cruinniu.creativeireland.gov.ie/

Congratulations to the Green School Committee and all the Teachers and Children in Scoil San Nioclas who worked so hard to ensure we were awarded our 8th Green Flag this year. Our Green Flag was on the theme of Global Citizenship: Marine Environment and we completed lots of wonderful projects in school to ensure we earned the flag. The Committee were outstanding when the judges arrived to our school. They all spoke so confidently and ensured the judges knew how hard our school has worked over the past two years. Unfortunately we are not in school at the moment to celebrate but please check out the link below which was sent from the Green Schools organisers to mark and commend schools who were awarded their flags this year. Again, congratulations to all and a special word of thanks to the Tidy Towns for their continued support.

Survey results MAY 14TH, 2020
Thank you to all those parents who completed the survey. The feedback you gave was very positive (thank you!). Parents seem happy with the volume of work being provided, and the type of activity.
Going forward we will continue to provide a similar bank of material to ensure our pupils are engaging in positive learning experiences.
New measures will also be implemented to further motivate our pupils;
1. We will create a new set of Home Activity Charts. These charts provide an optimum mix of online and offline resources and will be available in June.
2. We will create A Weekly Newspaper to help the children stay connected and interested in what their friends are getting up to. Please send on photographs of your child’s/children’s favourite activities during the lockdown to email@example.com for inclusion in the Newspaper. Names will not be included in accordance with GDPR.
3. We are setting up Seesaw, a remote learning platform, ready for you to use at home.
We would encourage all parents to send an email to the class teacher, requesting a code for your child. A separate code is needed for each child. Further details are provided on each teacher’s class page under ABOUT US.
It is very important to keep in touch!
As always, if you have any questions, the teacher is available to assist on the relevant email address;
The prescribed work, set by the class teacher, is merely a suggestion and there is no obligation for all of it to be completed.
If possible, the class teacher would like to see a sample of the work that your child has completed, and will give feedback by return email. It is very important that children continue to do the best they can.
The happiness and well-being of you and your child/children is of primary importance.
