Literacy stations are off to a great start this year! The children are working on report writing, spelling patterns, comprehension strategies and vocabulary development. Challenge: Stack the plastic cups without touching them! The children were given a short piece of trig each and an elastic band. Look at all the different ways they cooperated to complete the challenge....TEAM WORK!! Vocbulary development and spellings gamesThe children have working hard on developing their vocabulary, taking inspiration from the poem 'Big' by Colin McNaughton. They have been looking up definitions of various words in their dictionaries and using the online thesaurus on their iPads. They have composed their own adjective poems using the synonyms they have learned. Stay tuned to see our budding poets' works!
We enjoyed a very interesting nature walk around our school and the local area. Ross from Heritage Ireland showed us lots of different trees and hedges and told us about the animals and insects who live in them. Thanks, Ross! We had so much fun today at Carnival day! We loved our Samba drumming workshop, playground time, movie time and juggling workshop. Everyone enjoyed yummy chips for lunch and a delicious ice-cream and a disco to round off the day. Not even the rain could dampen the spirits in Scoil San Nioclás today!
We had a wonderful day at our first school music festival. Click here for more photos of a brilliant day!
Check out our fabulous relief tile prints! We had lots of fun creating these. |
