On a bright but windy, spring day, we braved the cold and ventured outside to do some planting. We planted broad beans and shallots. We will take good care of them and we really hope they will grow!
Thanks to all the grandparents and visitors who helped us celebrate Grandparents Day 2020. Have a look at our photos.
Meet our class pets! Big Jeff is our goldfish and Shadow is a blue oranda. They joined our class in November. Having pets is a big responsibility and everyone takes a turn to feed the fish and clean the fishbowl. Big Jeff and Shadow seem to enjoy classroom life!
We've really enjoyed our Christmas music study in the run up to Christmas. We got to listen to lots of well-known Christmas music, old and new. We all sang along and now we're really in the festive spirit!
3rd & 4th Class really enjoyed their recent workshop in Ardee Library. The ‘Go Fly Your Kite’ workshop focused on the science and technology of flight. The children took part in experiments and learned about aerodynamics and gravity.
Everyone decorated their own kite and learned how to fly it. It's not as easy as it looks! Lots of the boys and girls from 3rd & 4th recently took part in the F.A.I Futsal competition in D.K.I.T. They showed great skill and teamwork.
Well Done! We really enjoyed getting out and looking for some autumnal items. Here's what we collected:
Trees _ A deciduous leaf _ An evergreen leaf Berries _ A red berry _ A black berry Seeds _ A wind blown seed _ A nut Birds _ A feather Flowers _ A pink flower _ A yellow flower Animals that hide _ An animal under a stone _ An animal on a leaf From the trunk of a tree _ Lichen Use your senses _ Something with a scent you liked We worked in small groups and everyone had lots of fun! 3rd & 4th class had lots of fun making model lungs and investigating how the lungs work.
We learned sometimes experiments don't always go to plan and it's ok to stop, think about it again and start over. And guess what!? In the end, each group got their lungs to work :) Fourth class had a brilliant day showcasing our science project at Science Blast in Belfast. Check out our STEM page for photos and more information.
We've been enjoying working together on our group projects. We're researching native Australian animals
Have a look at some of our coral reef projects! Everyone worked so hard and the projects turned out fantastic! |
